Slaves of Rome is a third-person adult game with high-end 3D graphics in which you take on the role of a merchant in ancient Rome. Its developers wanted an adult title with realistic visuals and proper gameplay alongside consensual BDSM elements, and it has grown into a full game with quests, a world map, a compass and a quest-guiding system.

VR support is partial: the punishment scenes can be played in a headset, while the rest is a standard flat-screen game. You play a merchant in ancient Rome, and the game is built like a proper third-person RPG: there is a tutorial, a world map, a compass and a quest guide steering you between objectives. POVR's description adds that each slave has a backstory and personality, that you can play as male or female, and that you can be a kind master who forms bonds or a stricter one. The developers stress that the BDSM themes are consensual.

Production values are the highlight. Characters and environments look expensive by adult-game standards, and recent builds added a redesigned sex system, a first-person punishment mode and a seasonal event, along with what the developers describe as hundreds of bug fixes. With more than 600,000 plays and a healthy like count, it has a loyal audience.

For a VR hub, though, the big caveat is in the label: partial VR. Only the punishment scenes run in a headset, so most of your time is spent on a monitor. If you want a fully immersive experience, The Villain Simulator or Dominatrix Simulator are VR-first options in the kink space. Judged as a flat-screen RPG with a VR mode attached, it is ambitious and well made.
